B&B and SELF CATERING
HOUSE and GARDENS

Como House dates from 1852 and was the Hillstone Prep School for boys for over 100 years until it moved to a new location and the house fell derelict. The present owners carried out the restoration work.

The large south facing dining room with a separate lounge was once the dining hall for the school with upwards of 60 boys at breakfast and is now tastefully furnished with period pieces. It overlooks beautiful gardens through large French windows.

There is TV and Hi Fi but a particular feature is for traditional pastimes with a selection of games and jigsaws, quizzbooks and other books for general interests ... the whole effect in some way is to step back in time and just enjoy the relaxed atmosphere .......

The sunny gardens are a particular feature with a large variety of colourful plants and shrubs, an ornamental pond stocked with golden orfe and a natural cascade feature. The whole property has subtle outside lighting for evening ambience.

At the front of the house is a courtyard which captures sunshine all day with wisteria and a truly magnificent display of Ceanothus in the springtime.
